So you don't see those typical green links generated by Surf+ on Web pages!
However, if you ever installed Surf+, chances are big there are still remains lingering around. If you can still find spactive.dll, surfplus.dll or surfplus.exe on your drive, this article will tell how to get rid of them cleanly.
Getting rid of Surf+ isn't a straightforward thing to do. You won't find an entry in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and also the free version of spyware killer Ad-aware doesn't to a good job in hunting Surf+ down.
Luckily, removing Surf+ from you system manually only requires a few steps.
How to manually remove Surf+.
Close all instances of Internet Explorer. If you have Active Desktop enabled, disable that one for now.
You'll need regsvr32.exe for removal. Do a search on your hard drive for regsvr32.exe. You'll find it in Windows' System or System32 folder. Take note of its path.
Open a command prompt (aka DOS window) and go to the Windows folder (c:\windows, c:\winnt, ..).
Type this (hit enter at the end of each line, the path to regsvr32.exe may differ if you're not on Windows NT/2000):
You will see a dialog that says Surf+ is about to uninstall. It's rather about to get disabled.
Restart your computer so in-memory parts of Surf+ are forced to stop.
Open up the command prompt again, and go to the Windows folder.
Now proceed to delete all of Surf+ (some files may not be present, and mind to not open any Internet Explorer before doing this)
del spactive.dll
del surfplus.*
del spiesetup.exe
del spieinf.dat
del gzlib.dll
